After growing up in Seminole County and graduating from Lake Brantley High school, Mr. Carlos earned his bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies from the University of West Florida. Mr. Carlos enjoyed his time in Pensacola but knew that he could make the biggest impact back in his hometown. This is why he attended the Barry University School of Law in Orlando, where he was in the top 10% of his class for all three years. During his time in law school, Mr. Carlos served as an associate and senior editor for the Barry Law Review, earned the Book Award for the highest overall grade for three different courses, and eventually graduated twelfth in his class with honors, magna cum laude.
For five years, prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Carlos has worked for and learned from Attorney Matthews Bark. Mr. Carlos worked as a law clerk for Mr. Bark while in both undergraduate and law school. As a clerk, Mr. Carlos assisted in a variety of cases including DUIs, domestic violence, drug trafficking, sexual abuse, and murder, to name a few. This allowed Mr. Carlos to apply the research, writing, and advocacy skills he learned in school to real life situations, giving him first-hand experience that was second to none. Mr. Carlos also served as a Traffic Hearing Officer in Seminole County, further developing his courtroom expertise. Upon passing the Florida Bar, Mr. Carlos was honored with the opportunity to work full-time as an associate attorney with the Law Officers of Matthews R. Bark, P.A.
Mr. Carlos, when asked about himself, had this to say: Ever since I was a young age, I knew I wanted to do something with my life to help others. This desire for helping others was ultimately the catalyst that sparked my passion in advocating for the criminally and wrongfully accused.
